WHITHER THOU GOEST Ruth 1:16-17 With the death of her husband and sons, Naomi is stranded with her Moabite daughters in law in a strange land. She tells her daughters in law they should go back to their people, for she cannot provide them with sustenance. Ruth refuses to leave her saying "Whither thou goest, I will go..your people are my people, your God my God". This is one of the strongest faith affirmations in the Bible in the one God of the Israelites and is perhaps the reason that Ruth is one of the only three women mentioned in the Matthew 1 geneology for Jesus.
