In Exodus 15:20-21 after the Israelites safe crossing through the Red Sea, Miryam, (Aaron and Moses' sister) took a timbrel in her hand & the women followed with timbrels & dancing. Miryam chanted to them, "Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed, the horse & the charioteer, he flung into the sea."
