Nonviolence Training in Bethlehem
In 2006 and 2007, Dr. Bernard Lafayette did a two week training of twenty-two Palestinians in Bethlehem in the Palestinian territories. The purpose of these trainings was to introduce them to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s philosophy, thinking and strategies. It also equips them to introduce others to this way of living and confronting injustices nonviolently. Dr. Bernard Lafayette worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr through the 1960s as part of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and has spent a good part of the rest of his life training others in Dr. King’s principles and methods.
