Nicaraguan Series |
||||||||||||||
In this series of quilts, I show Nicaraguans in homes constructed of recycled materials and discarded scraps, from which they have made orderly environments, including tables and chairs to sit on, a hammock to rest in, and girls preparing food in the open air. You also see a class in a girl’s high school, which seems like an ordinary scene, but it is quite extraordinary for girls to have this place dedicated to their learning. Another scene is of women and children studying in an unlit interior is typical of most Nicaraguan schools. |
