In Exodus 32 Moses receives the law on Mount Sinai The Israelites wait impatiently for him to come down and ask Aaron, Moses' brother, to make them a God. They give Aaron their golden jewelry and Aaron has a golden calf made for them to worship. They proclaim that this idol brought them out Egypt. Moses coming down from the mountain with tablets of Law sees the dancing and the golden calf and smashes the law tablets against the mountain.
