In Exodus 1 Pharaoh is concerned about the Hebrews growing too numerous and required the killing of all Hebrew male babies. The Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah, Moses' mother and sister, and pharaoh's daughter risk their lives to defy his order. It was interesting to note that the Hebrew midwives are named, when only a small percentage of women have names In the Hebrew Bible including the fact that Moses' mother, sister, and pharaoh's daughter are not named.
